It was one my first visit to BR hills. Having read a lot about BR hills, was looking forward for this trip. It is not always easy to plan if you have a small kid whose around 1.5 years. Thanks to my wife, she took care of all his planning and also him during the entire two day stay there.
Did my research about BR hills. Apart from the big cats and pachyderm the list of birds were big. I had difficulty keeping track of the list of birds that I had to keep my eyes open for. The road to BR hills via Kanakapura was nothing but delight. It was a pleasure driving up that road. We found a small lake and parked near it to watch some common coot in plenty.
Next stop was BR hills. And lo behold, its one of the best places I have seen so far. Right in the middle of the Tiger sanctuary without any boundaries we see Jungle Lodges. Its very nicely made and beautiful.
To my bad luck, it was raining cats and dogs. So the first sight of rains, I said, there goes the big cats. Now I was hoping to catch as many birds as possible. All the safaris turned out to be amidst the rains. The forest has a pristine look when it rains. No camera can capture that. More than the animals and birds, the lush green forest under rains is something that I will never forget. I wished the time stood still.
The lighting conditions were not all that good for photography. The driver did his best to help us spot various animals for us. We did manage a few of them
I think I was lucky to find a herd of elephants just getting out the water body. I wished they stayed there for long.
But then when we thought we were out of luck with any birds, our guide pointed to a branch. Brown fish owl. It must have been an highlight of the trip.
I did manage some bird pics, some birds did not disappoint me.
And there were a lot which could not be photographed this time. But hey!!! I will be back soon. I am not done yet.
